Be Selfish – Serve the Poor

A LifeWay Research study revealed that 34% of Americans (including a whopping 47% of African Americans and 44% of Americans with graduate school educations and 41% of females) said they would visit a church with an active ministry to the poor. In fact, an active ministry to the poor was more like to draw people to a church than if several families in their neighborhood attended, or if people at their same time of life (senior, young families with children, etc.) attended.

So if you don’t want to serve the poor because it’s one of the most frequently mentioned biblical injunctions, then do so for selfish reasons.  Apparently it’s a dynamite church growth method!
